c-Class BladeSystem updates and products
- HP BladeSystem Customer Advisory – The advisory for ESXi 5.0 and the Emulex be2net Inbox Driver Version has been resolved. The customer advisory can be found at the following URL: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c03005737
- AMD Processors – The AMD Opteron 6200 series process have been announced on the BL465c G7, BL685c G7 and the equivalent rack mount servers. The 6200 series processors are available with 8, 12 or 16 cores per processor with speeds that range 1.6Ghz to 3.0Ghz. The speeds available are dependent on the number of cores. - Zunesis Services – We get a lot of questions around firmware updates and health check services on the HP BladeSystem. Zunesis offers a BladeSystem health check that will review your blade environment, design a plan for updates and if needed, update all firmware and drivers. We do this keeping the downtime to a minimum. Contact your account manager or myself if you are interested.
- Virtual Connect v3.30 – Virtual Connect enhancements in v3.30 include the following:
- CLI commands provide essential system, configuration and network troubleshooting
- Configure simultaneous tunneled and mapped VLANs in a single VC domain
- Connect up to 1,000 networks per Shared Uplink Set and 162 networks per 10Gb server port
- TACACS+ and RADIUS role-based security compatibility
- Network access groups prevent connection of specific network combinations in the same server profile
- iSCSI boot assistant simplifies boot parameter configuration
- Server side network loop prevention
- HP Service Pack – HP has renamed the Proliant Support Pack (PSP) to HP Service Pack for Proliant (SPP). The Service Pack includes Systems software and firmware in a single ISO Image. The current version is 2011.09.0, released on October 3, 2011.
- HP Infiniband Options – Did you know that HP has both DDR and QDR infiniband options for the c-Class blades? QDR (Quad Data Rate) provides 40Gbps and DDR (Double Data Rate) provides 20Gbps through-put per server port. HP offers both Mellanox and qlogic options for the HCA’s and Infiniband switches.
