Zunesis has earned a solid reputation for designing and implementing VMware solutions for numerous customers. Zunesis is a VMware VIP Enterprise partner and a VMware Authorized Consultant (VAC) partner organization with delivery accreditation for all major software products sold by VMware. Zunesis is also a VMware VIP Enterprise Partner. Zunesis guides its customers with design, planning and deployment of virtual infrastructure into their environments. From very large implementations involving 5000+ servers to very important mission critical environments for smaller mid-market organizations involving as few as 25 servers, Zunesis has been a consistent "go to" partner for VMware solutions.
Server Virtualization has become a mainstream platform in organizations around the globe. Traditional datacenters contain servers that run 5-15% utilization and only run a single application. This leads to an atmosphere of many highly inefficient servers using precious floor space and consuming costly power and cooling. Zunesis has led customers to implement VMware’s Virtual Infrastructure platform to consolidate their server environment onto a lesser number of physical servers by running “virtual machines”. This increases the hardware utilization to upwards of 60-80%, but streamlines datacenters into a smaller, more flexible and easier managed facility. Zunesis customers have seen a reduction in acquisition time and costs while being able to more rapidly deploy new virtual machines to handle traditional new server requests. Additionally, Zunesis customers have been able to reduce power and cooling requirements by running less physical servers in their datacenters. Virtualized servers yield about a $700 savings per year over a standalone physical server, so customers can immediately begin to see a return on investment from a VMware implementation. |
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
(VDI) is gaining momentum and interest among organizations across all vertical markets. Zunesis customers are looking at VDI to address several key business needs, ranging from Business Continuity to Compliance and Data Security. Zunesis has already invested a significant amount of time and resources to understand what it takes to design and implement VDI. Since mid-2007, Zunesis has had a fully operational VDI demonstration facility employing HP Blade servers, SAN storage, and thin clients. Blade servers, storage and thin clients do not make a complete VDI “Infrastructure”. Our VDI solution also uses a connection broker by Provision Networks (Qwest Software). This product integrates with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for remote access. Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, and Mobile User access is securely handled with their SSL / WWW Gateway. VDI resource access can be controlled based on Microsoft Active Directory (AD) integration, and policies bound to each desktop pool. Finally, Zunesis uses a VMware software virtualization product Thinstall to assist customers with their desktop software deployment and support. A Thinstall application is easily shared on a file server, and can be published to Desktop Resource pools as defined in our Provision Networks management console. This allows for a seamless VDI user experience.
Operational management of the resulting virtualized environment is a consistent area of focus for all organizations. Zunesis has invested a significant amount of time and resources to integrate several VMware products with Systems Insight Manager. Our Rapid Deployment Package (RDP) is currently configured to deploy VI3, Linux, and Microsoft Windows images onto bare metal hosts or into virtual machines as necessary. In addition, RDP is currently being used to manage the VDI thin client. These integrated management tools make the process of operational management seamless and much more efficient for data center administrators. |
