Veeam is the leading provider of VM (virtual machine) backup and recovery in the market today.
Veeam recently released their Version 9 product, which includes the following in-demand new features:
- Scale-out Backup Repository
- Integrations with EMC and NetApp storage
- Integration with HPE StoreOnce Calalyst for superior source side deduplication
- Direct NFS Access
- …and more!
Introduced in version 8, Veeam now provides a built-in connection to Cloud backup providers as part of the price of the licensed product.
With Veeam Cloud Connect, organizations can move VM backups and replicas off site without the cost and complexity of building and maintaining an offsite infrastructure. Veeam Cloud Connect provides a fully integrated, fast, and secure way to backup, replicate, and restore from the cloud.
Zunesis provides access to a trusted and tested service provider, just point your VM backups or replica jobs to the cloud — cloud-based disaster recovery and offsite backup could not be easier!
The 3-2-1 rule states that organizations need to keep three copies of their data, stored on two types of media, with one copy being off site. Getting backups off site can be challenging due to limited bandwidth, exploding data volumes, and a lack of resources required to build or maintain a true offsite backup repository.
With Veeam Cloud Connect, organizations can master the 3-2-1 rule without dumping money and resources into a second site or adding bandwidth—just leverage cloud backup repository services from a Zunesis recommended Veeam Cloud Connect Service Provider and take advantage of Veeam’s built-in WAN Acceleration technology.
Below is a high level diagram borrowed with thanks from Veeam which provides an easy-to-understand architectural overview of this functionality:
Veeam Cloud Connect backup and replication is included within Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup & Replication, and Veeam Backup Essentials for all end users at no additional charge and with no additional licensing required. However, organizations will need to acquire a subscription to the appropriate computer and/or storage resources from a service provider of their choice in order to utilize this – Zunesis will happily arrange a discussion with a recommended provider for these services.
